Dandruff Causes, Symptoms, And Treatment

Dandruff causes and symptoms

Causes

The main causes of dandruff are impairment of general health, development of a toxic condition mainly due to taking of wrong foods, constipation, and a low vitality due to infectious diseases. Severe cases of dandruff are caused by a disease called seborrhoeic eczema or seborrhoeic dermatitis, which causes greasy bran-like scale. Dandruff may be caused by a form of a skin condition called eczema, which causes increased shedding of normal scalp skin cells. Experts believe that an overgrowth of a fungus called malassezia causes the shedding to occur too quickly. Factors that may augment a dandruff condition include infrequent shampooing of hair, inadequate rinsing and excessive use of a hot hair dryer (which also causes contact dermatitis). Among the myriad of internal causes suspected are: hormonal imbalance, poor health, excessive perspiration, poor hygiene, allergic, hypersensitive, lack of rest, emotional stress, excessive consumption of sugar, fat, starch improper nutrition, and heredity pre-disposition. The following factors may make the flaking of dandruff worse and considered to be external causes for the problem: excessive use of hairsprays and gels. It’s also a myth that using styling products causes dandruff, and you definitely can’t catch it off anyone. The following problems tend to exacerbate dandruff: cold weather, dry indoor heating, stress (physical or emotional), food allergies, nutritional deficiencies (B-complex vitamins or omega-3 fatty acids), use of hair spray and gels, use of hair-coloring chemicals, use of electric hair curlers or blow dryers. Dandruff has been blamed on a multiplicity of causes, including dry skin, oily skin, too much or too little hair washing, diet, stress or hygiene. The common causes and risk factors of dandruff include the following: A naturally occurring yeast fungus called Pityrosporum ovale.

Symptoms

Some sign and symptoms related to Dandruff are as follows: dry, scaly skin and white, oily-looking patches on the scalp, which flake off. However, if symptoms are severe and flakes are accompanied by redness and inflammation of the scalp or a secondary skin infection, it may indicate the presence of a related condition such as seborrheic dermatitis. For most teens and adults, dandruff symptoms are easy to spot: white, oily looking flakes of dead skin that dot your hair and shoulders and an itchy, scaling scalp. Common symptoms of dandruff include white, oily-looking flakes of
1000
dead skin in your hair and on your shoulders and an itchy, scaling scalp. The signs and symptoms include: white flakes on shoulders of dark clothing, itchy scalp, dry facial skin, recurrent ear “eczema”, and facial rash by eyebrows, nose, and ears.
